CHELSEA GOODACRE #77

April 13th, 2017 | 0 Comments

This has quickly become my favorite time of the year, as the NPF draft is just 2 weeks away!

College seniors are getting to the point in their softball season where they can’t imagine life after softball, and can’t believe their college career is almost over. I know that’s exactly how I was feeling during this time of my senior year and it was frightening! Softball has been such a huge part of my life, and I knew that without it, I would be lost. I wasn’t ready to hang up my cleats just yet…

I know most seniors feel the same way I did, which is why I love the NPF draft. It’s a chance for more enthusiastic and talented softball athletes to continue their softball career, and grow into an even better player than before. Not many girls get the opportunity to play after college, so to be chosen, as one of the picks in the NPF draft is a HUGE accomplishment. Only 2% of ALL college athletes make it to the professional level!

From the fans perspective, the NPF league may appear to be just more softball games, but by being involved, I can tell you it does so much more than that. It also provides each of us, an opportunity to learn skills, techniques and strategies from a wide spectrum of players and coaches who are the best in the game. We are also around such great role models who share a passion to not only play the game, but to also inspire young softball girls to want to look past college and aim to become a Professional Softball Player.

I’ve learned so much throughout my travelball days and my career at Arizona, but with just two years in the NPF professional league, I realize I have learned so much more about myself as a person and a player, and I am thrilled that soon, new NPF Draftees will get to share in this same experience.

Now considered a veteran in this league, I look forward to these new players coming into the league, because it provides so many more challenges with, new pitchers to face, new hitters to play against, and more great teammates, and opponents!

I am so excited for this new chapter for these selected seniors and wish each of them the very best in their new upcoming NPF careers. I offer this advice, I’m sure the journey getting here was filled with great memories, as was the case for me – but the last 2 summers in the NPF have been some of the BEST times in softball I’ve ever had. Enjoy!

Make sure you watch the draft on April 24th at (6PM) on NPF.TV !!!
